Gamera Gamera 1: Guardian of the Universe
When a plutonium transport runs aground on a floating reef, investigators arrive and find ancient artifacts. As the reef submerges, they discover that it is, in fact, an enormous monster. Meanwhile, on Himegami Island, scientists encounter three giant bird-like creatures, which they capture in a stadium in Fukuoka. The artifacts identify them as the evil Gyaos, and the monster as Gamera, a protector engineered by an ancient civilization. Gamera comes to destroy the Gyaos, but two of them escape. He finds and defeats one of them, but is shot down by the military. He recovers in time to fight the last Gyaos, which has devastated Tokyo. After a lengthy battle, the Gyaos is destroyed, and Gamera returns to the sea.
